All paving, from the simplest garden path, or a small patio, to a multi lane motorway, consists of a number of different layers. It is the materials used for each layer, and the way each layer is prepared and constructed that gives strength and stability to the many types of paving.
Typically, there are a number of main layers to a pavement and these are introduced and explained in various sections of this web site. We will also give a brief history of the various materials, where applicable.
